The 9PMDS is a 9-pin version of the 232MDS. All output signals from the 9-pin female connectors on pins 3, 4, and 7 are OR'd together and appear as outputs on the male 9-pin modem port. Modem signals on pins 1, 2, 6, and 8 are passed back to the female 9-pin connectors.
