CAN Test Box

can test box

Continuing with our mission to make vehicle diagnostics easier and faster…the new CAN Test Box gives you easy access to the 16 pins of the diagnostic connector that is fitted to all modern vehicles. Depending on the configuration of the vehicle, this may allow you to check power, ground and CAN Bus signal quality. With the test leads supplied you can connect your PicoScope lab scope to the CAN Test Box to monitor signals such as the CAN High and Low. More.....

Pico BNC Coil on Plug Probe - TA398

The TA398 COP and signal probe from Pico Technology is the easiest and fastest non-intrusive way to check coil-on-plug ignition coils and spark plugs.

  • Find misfires fast
  • Displays scope patterns of the secondary, faster than scoping the primary
  • Can also be used to investigate injectors and other inductive actuators
  • Flexible design allows for easier access to hard-to-reach components
  • No batteries required

Unlike the BNC TA204 COP Probe, the connecting lead is integral to the TA398 BNC COP Probe, therefore no TA033 (BNC to BNC lead) is required.

This lead is fitted with a PicoBNC interface, allowing it to be recognised by the software for auto-configuration. The lead requires a PicoScope featuring the PicoBNC such as the 4225A or 4425A.

Coil On Plug (COP) and Signal Probe -PP357

The TA204 coil-on-plug (COP) and signal probe from Pico Technology is the fastest way to check coil-on-plug ignition coils and spark plugs.

Find misfires fast
Displays scope patterns of the secondary, faster than scoping the primary
Works on all automotive scopes capable of displaying ignition patterns
Can also be used to investigate injectors and other inductive actuators
Flexible design allows for easier access to hard-to-reach components
No batteries required

Like distributors, spark plug wires are starting to disappear from cars. With the new COP ignition systems the ignition coils are connected directly to the spark plugs — eliminating the need for the spark plug wires. With no high-voltage spark wires, a COP probe is required to be able to pick up the secondary ignition waveform.

As standard the TA204 COP probe is supplied as a kit (PP357) complete with the TA033 BNC to BNC cable in order to connect to your automotive scope.

HT Extension Lead -TA037

HT extension leads are the simple accessory that allow you to take accurate secondary ignition measurements on COP ignition systems.

HT extension leads are designed to aid diagnostics on secondary ignition circuits by allowing an HT measurement to be made when there is no, or limited, access to any spark plug leads. The leads are specifically designed for use with the MI074 Secondary Ignition Pickup.

HT extension leads are easy to use: simply fit them between the coil pack and the plugs, place a capacitive secondary ignition pickup on each lead, and your scope will show accurate ignition waveforms with correct kV measurements.

HT extension leads are designed for use with PicoScope automotive scopes, but can also be used on all other labscopes that are capable of displaying ignition patterns.

Pico BNC Secondary ignition pickup (capacitive with BNC ) - TA397

Due to the high voltages involved in secondary ignition systems, it is not possible to make measurements by direct connection. Attempting to make a direct connection will almost certainly damage the measuring instrument.

The TA397 is a capacitive pickup that simply connects around the insulation of an ignition circuit component such as a plug wire. This avoids the need for direct connection.

The TA397 comes with a shielded 1.8 m (6 foot) lead. It is suitable for use with conventional ignition systems and most HEI and DIS systems. Our library of Automotive Waveforms contains example waveforms captured using a PicoScope automotive oscilloscope and the TA398 or the MI074 BNC version.

This lead is fitted with a PicoBNC interface, allowing it to be recognised by the software for auto-configuration. The lead requires a PicoScope featuring the PicoBNC such as the 4225A or 4425A.

The MI074 is a capacitive pickup that simply connects around the insulation of an ignition circuit component such as a plug wire. This avoids the need for direct connection.

The MI074 comes with a shielded 1.8 m (6 foot) lead. It is suitable for use with conventional ignition systems and most HEI and DIS systems. Our library of Automotive Waveforms contains example waveforms captured using a PicoScope automotive oscilloscope and the MI074.

Although ideal for use with a PicoScope automotive oscilloscope, the MI074 pickup can also be used with most other makes of oscilloscope provided they have an waveform invert option.

Mixmaster 12-Channel Automotive Signal Mixer - PP361

mixmaster

With the Mixmaster 12-channel automotive signal mixer you can view an ignition parade display of up to 12 cylinders on any lab scope.

Mixmaster can produce a parade display of up to 12 cylinders using a single channel of your lab scope. If you have a 2-channel scope, then Mixmaster can also display 2 engine banks separately with up to 6 cylinders per bank.

Mixmaster includes a trigger output, derived from one of the 12 input signals, which can be used to synchronise the scope to a known cylinder. Additionally, Mixmaster features a simple switch so you can invert a bank of signals to deal with negative-going signals on waste-spark systems.

Designed for use with the Automotive Oscilloscope Kit, Mixmaster can also be used on virtually any other lab scope, and can be used on both DIS and distributor ignition systems.
