Q: How does QuoteWerks link with Ingram Micro, and Tech Data?
A: QuoteWerks Professional and Corporate Edition links to the offline pricing databases that PC industry distributors Ingram Micro, and Tech Data provide to their customers. You can download these databases from the distributor's web sites. You can download updated pricing from their web sites on a weekly or daily basis depending on the distributor.
With the optional QuoteWerks " href="real-time_web_pricing.htm" target="_selfreal-time data module, you can also obtain real-time web pricing and availability for Tech Data products.
When these pricing databases first were introduced, they where a vast improvement over the old paper price guide. That being said, the next hurdle was the fact that there was no unified way to find products in all of their databases. It was a very time consuming process to lookup the products in each of the electronic price guides, and you would have to revert back to writing down the part numbers and cross-referencing them.
Then, we introduced QuoteWerks. With QuoteWerks, you can search for products in all three of the distributors database from one lookup interface. When you find the products you are looking for, you can easily add them to the quote, complete with distributor and manufacturer part numbers etc. Also, since QuoteWerks links to the databases, you do not need to re-import their database each time (All the databases have roughly 30,000 products) you get price updates. That makes QuoteWerks especially attractive to resellers that use these distributors.

Install the distributor offline electronic price guide per their documentation.

Ingram Micro has an offline electronic price guide application called 'IM on Disk'. You can download the electronic price guide, and weekly updates from their web site. The prices in the weekly updates that you download are based on your login id, so the prices you download are the prices for your account. Their 'IM on Disk' support number is 1-800-616-4665.
How to obtain and Install the Price Guide:

Call their support number to obtain an ID and password for their web site.

In your web browser, go to www.ingrammicro.com/epg and enter your ID and password to gain access.

If this is your first time setting this up, download their program, and the latest pricing data by downloading the epgsetup.exe and data.zip files.

Run the epgsetup.exe and install it on your hard drive or your file server.

Start the IM on Disk application, select the Update menu, and select the data.zip file that you downloaded. IM on Disk will begin 'building' the database from the data file. When the process has completed, QuoteWerks can link to it's database. |

In your web browser, go to www.techdata.com and select CUSTOMER. Enter your ID and Password, then click on the COMMERCE ZONE option.

Scroll down and select the DOWNLOADS option, then select the 'Update your product and pricing files for TDonCD or Catalog-On-Disk’.

Download the PRODCOD.EXE file, and save it to a directory on your hard drive like QuoteWerkstechdata.
